2h vet12 nb here.
The sneak attack bonus will apply wether its a light or heavy attack. The heavy does indeed need to be fully charged to have its full effect. The target reticule will indeed open up just before you land the attack, but the damage still applies. (I hit for 2k on a successful sneak attack)
How you spec your gap closer is entirely up to you though, but it would do you good to look at passives and how these effects work together. Do you want the bonus crit from having the assassination ability on your bar? And the aoe from fan, or the 30% bonus from ambush? (It also has a short disable, which can be used to interrupt, or simply stun.) Or the stamina charge which is a great opener, and is great for rengaging if you need to back off for a sec. (Minimum distance) I personally had a lot of fun using critical rush along with shadow image. It is far from the best combo, but it is fun moving around the battlefield like that.
As for assassins blade and reverse slash, it again comes down to how you want your build. Assassins blades morphs can be greatly benificial for survival. One gives you a %heal on killing an opponent, where the other can be used at range. For rs, executioner is great if you use weapon abilities, as it builds damage as the opponents hp decrease. Reverse slice splashes damage to nearby enimies, which can be verry usefull in a group mob clear. of course, there are more things to take into account when having an ability on your bar. You only have 5 slots and an ultimate, plus a utility quickslot. If you want a skill that's more usefull during the fight I would recommend reverse slash, as it has higher danage, and is honestly just an absolute blast to use. If you want an execute with more utility, but a lower initial damage, use assassins blade. Another thing to consider is that at 20% enemy hp, my rs does 800 dmg and my ab does 1.2k dmg (with crit).
Sneak attacking from shadow cloak does not currently seem to give the full bonus, but it is likely bugged.
Hope this helps!

To compare DPE, you just add up the total damage across all the bars because the total energy across the bars is always 100. I think a more useful metric would be to model out the total damage of just spamming quick and charge attacks over a long period (like 100 min) and then divide it by 100 to get 'cycle damage per minute'. This makes normal attacks totally worthless compared to charge. Before, charge attacks were competitive with normal even with the +melee damage frame mods. I really hope they reexamine the balance between the two, as my fully upgraded melee attack rate and damage cards are gathering dust while I use half upgaded charge attack mods instead. Jul 06, 2018 Attacking an enemy that is currently off-balance with a fully charged heavy attack adds another 100% to this variable So when you need resources, attacking an off-balance enemy is the best way to get them, especially since the heavy attack will do another 70% damage. Not 3 buttons, but ok. If I could stand at a distance and charge molten with light attack/pulse spam I would agree. But you have to stand in a hot zone soaking bombs to land this combo. And good luck if you don't actually kill anyone, you're going to the respawm area. If you do then perhaps you need to mix in 4-5 ultras for tanking? They especially help vs splash damage comps and if you micro their charge you can destroy waves quicker. My recommendation would be focus on getting your economy up ASAP along with the right upgrades for the units you’re using even before building an army. Mar 22, 2019 I dislike shock in general but in particular for builds like this one that are heavy on attack speed. Shaper has 18,328,731 Life so to fully shock him a single lightning hit would need to be 1,832,873 dmg. Even to get just a 1% more damage shock you need to do a 366,574 individual lightning hit.
